With the upcoming introduction of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also more commonly known as Martyn’s law, there will be new requirements on venues and events to put more formalised measures in place to assess the risks of a terrorist attack. This will include drones being used to carry out a terrorist attack.
Whilst the majority of events and venues do not have a high level risk from drones, there will be a requirement for a competent person to conduct the formal assessment for risks. Under the legislation this is known as a “competent person”. Venues and events can train up their own staff to conduct this assessment.
If you feel you would like our highly experienced team to help, we can provide you with a Drone Counter Terrorism Risk Management (CTRM) Plan tailored to your threats, layout and circumstances.
All our team have obtained their Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Counter Terrorism Risk Management. This is a university between University of Cumbria & Storm4Events, who also deliver the Police Counter Terrorism Risk Advisor course modules for the UK Police. This qualified them to a significantly higher level than the requirements of Martyn’s law for competent persons.
Our team also includes some of the most senior Counter UAS (Drone) experts from Policing who have protected national assets, airports, major events and dignitaries from drones throughout their recent careers before joining our company.
The majority of the assessments we carry out, due to the relatively low threat level from drones in the United Kingdom, involve simple and cost effective (mostly free) methods for events and venues to put in place appropriate measures to protect themselves from drone incidents.
Our practical steps include how to protect from ongoing drone issues, not just terrorism related incidents.
Our measures are considered within the Justifiable Achievable Sustainable Practical Affordable Realistic (JASPAR) scale.
